Hi everyone! Yes, this site is supposed to be the future home of my law practice website.. it’s been seemingly in development for way too long, but don’t worry, it’s coming – I promise this place will look much different in a few week’s time.
Anyways, now to the task at hand. I’m participating in a charity cycling event in Ottawa called the CN Cycle for CHEO. CHEO stands for Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. As the name suggests, it’s a children’s hospital that provides “leading-edge treatment, diagnostic and laboratory services for children and youth aged 0 to 18 years.” Beyond being a hospital, CHEO is also a research centre. As for the “race” (I say “race” in brackets because it’s not a race per se) is a 70km bicycle tour in Ottawa on May 2nd.
There’s no obligation for me to raise pledges for this charity “race”, but here’s why I’m doing it: If you know me well, you know that I’m not really a “kids person”. I have no children of my own, but perhaps at some point, a relative’s kid or a good friend of mine’s kid will get sick and will need a facility like CHEO. There are some amazing success stories about what CHEO has meant to kids and their families. I’m very selective about the charitable causes that I support, and I rarely go out and ask for pledges. However, I believe in this cause and kindly ask you to help support CHEO via a sponsorship donation for this ride. My goal is very modest.. only $250. Every little bit helps and is very much appreciated.
